How we report (editorial standards)
- Two sources before publishing. A report from a student alone is a tip; it becomes a story after a second independent confirmation.
- Right of reply. Any person or institution named in a critical report is contacted for comment before publication, and the reply is carried even if it arrives late.
- No unverified election numbers. Results are published only from the returning officer's declaration, the university, or a named reporter present at counting.
- Protection of students in incidents. In reports of accidents, harassment, ragging, suicide or police action, we do not publish the name, photo, hostel or roll number of a victim who is a minor, nor of any student who does not consent.
- No communal or party line. Dibrugarh_Student_Hub is not affiliated to any student organisation or political party. Organisation tags (AASU, NSUI, ACP, ABVP…) appear only to describe a candidacy or a statement.
- Corrections in the open. If a report is wrong, we correct it in the feed and mark it Corrected. Write to the email address below.
- Attribution. When we follow up a report first published elsewhere, we credit and link it.
This page is an independent student initiative. Reports about a specific college or a named individual should be sent to us with contact details so they can be verified before publishing.

What to send, and how
- Election news: name of the body (e.g. DUPGSU, a college students' union), date of counting, declared result, and a photo or copy of the declaration sheet if you have one.
- Organisation news: name of the organisation, office-bearer's name and designation, the exact statement or demand, and the date and place of the event.
- Protest / movement: where it started, how many students, the demand, whether police were involved, and whether an agreement was reached.
- Student work: research, startup, invention, art, publication, sports or volunteering — send a short description plus a photo and the student's permission to be named.
- Campus programmes: fest, seminar, sports meet, blood donation or cultural night — date, venue, organiser and photographs.
- Incidents: what happened to a student — road accident, hostel problem, fee or scholarship trouble, ragging, exam issue, harassment or health emergency. Give the facts you can stand by, and tell us how we can reach a witness. We will protect identities where needed.
Never send us a story about a named student in distress without that student's or family's consent. If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first — then write to us.
